| Andromeda felt as if he where to let her go she would surely fall. Her mind was so clouded and she felt like she was held within a dream of pure bliss. It was pure lunacy that such a thing like this could happen. Oh heavenly gods why have thee forsaken me with such forbidden feelings, she thought to herself. This would surely lead to disaster for he was surely one she could not be allowed to feel this way for. Her family would surely forbid it. But for know these thoughts did not worry her. Right now she would live in the moment, safe from her sisters behind her red and gold mask. Worry would have to wait for another time; it was safe for now.
The world around her had disappeared. The people who danced around them gone; only her and the mystery man before her. Her eyes met his as he looked down at her. They seemed to call her. Closer, closer they seemed to beckon. She felt an urge to close the gap between them, an urge to place her lips on his. Craziness, a voice that seemed far away in her mind told her. She barely knew this person. Not his name or what year he was in or what house. Pure madness, the voice called again. Meda ignored it. She was about to move closer, but his arm seemed to do it for her. His eyes still looked into hers and Meda felt as if there deep gaze would make her melt within his grasp.
Her voice caught once again as he lifted her hand to his face. As he placed his lips placed a kiss upon them, Meda could only let out a shallow breath as shivers run up her arm and through her body. Her lips felt envious of her hand. The want to kiss him was stronger and she could almost feel her lips tremble in longing. She wanted more then anything to kiss his, but her body seemed frozen still, still worried that any movement she made would break this seemingly fragile dream-like moment.

| Melanie sighed boredly as she leaned back on a table, examining her black painted nail intently as she had nothing better to do. Cissy was with Lucius, Sadira with Regulus, Snape nowhere to be seen, Bellatrix was... well, Bellatrix. She should have known this Masquerade thing would be a bad idea. Nothing interesting was happening but then again, what else could be expected of school dance? Pathetic. Simply and plainly pathetic. She was getting sick of having McGonagall looking at her sternly every ten seconds too. Stupid old bat... She looked around with an annoyed air on her face, trying to find something to do other than stuffing her face with the refreshments. Besides she wasn't hungry and everything they served was too sweet for her taste. Letting out a frustrated sigh, she reached behind her head, her fingers playing lightly with the knot of her mask before undoing it and taking it off. It was getting hot and scratchy and she didn't want her makeup to be ruined. However, as soon as she took it off she saw three professors hurrying in her direction and she rolled her eyes, putting it back on before either of them reached her.
"Stupid dumb old school," she muttered under her breath, folding her arms across her stomach sulkily and looking around the room once more.
As she did so, she noticed a couple dancing in the middle of the room. They seemed quite close and the girl reminded her of someone, though she couldn't quite say who. The mere sight of the boy made a chill run down her spine and she instantly knew he wasn't a Slytherin, or even someone worthy of this place. Probably a mudblood or something. She shook her head, her eyes narrowing slightly as she kept on looking at the couple. Suddenly, she recognized her and a dangerously evil smirk appeared on her face. She was almost certain that the girl was Andromeda, and if her instincts were correct, she was dancing with a filthy mudblood. She was probably even aware of it, thinking her costume would keep her safe from her sisters' wrath if they found out. Melanie almost had to restrain the evil laugh that threatened escaping her lips and she leaned closer to Cissy, a straight and serious look on her face as she lightly tapped on her shoulder.
"Cissy dear, isn't that your sister over there, in the pirate costume?" she asked, pointing at the said girl with a strangely innocent edge to her voice. "Who is she dancing with?"
She had been wrong after all. Things would definitely get interesting now, she simply couldn't wait.

| Bellatrix had overheard these words, and when she turned her head to see for herself, she nearly spit out the butterbeer she had been drinking at the sight. That indeed was her little sister, and that definitely wasn't someone worthy she was dancing with. Bella had a good knowledge of the Slytherins, and that boy was most definitely not one.
Without saying a word, she slammed down her cup and marched right passed Cissy and Melanie, straight across the room until she was standing right behind Meda. "Surprise." She whispered in her ear in an icy cold voice as she wrapped her arm around and ripped off her "sister's" mask with a swift motion, snapping the strap. "Anything you'd care to explain?" She sneered, but wasted no time walking around to the boy she was dancing with and ripped off his eye patch with great force (that strap snapping also) and pulling off the scarf covering his hair. She quickly dropped the items to the ground and narrowed her eyes at him, as if it was his fault.
She recognized him as Ted Tonks, a Hufflepuff and if not bad enough a mudblood. There were many others Meda could have chosen outside of their circle and Bella wouldn't have been as mad... but a mudblood?!
She spun back around to face Andromeda. "Good evening Andromeda, how has your night been?." She said sarcastically, her voice one of false cheerfulness. She instantly changed her expression to one of anger, her eyes narrowed. "You were a Black. One of the few authentic pureblooded families in the Wizarding world, and you go and betray us by dancing with this?" She swung her arm back to point to Ted. "You knew what was expected, yet you decided to go and try to... bend the rules so to say, did you?" Her voice was suddenly low and dangerous, quiet enough so herself, Meda, and possibly Ted who was behind her were the only ones able to hear. She dropped her voice even more and said, in barely a whisper, "Let it be known, Andromeda, you will not get away with this one. Lies won't get you very far this time."
She knew there wasn't much she could do to her sister at the moment, way to public and way to many teachers around.

| Narcissa took her eyes from Lucius as she heard the words Melanie spoke and she then focused her attention towards the middle of the dance floor. Her eyes narrowed as she picked her sister out of the crowd and she saw that she was dancing.....closely with someone who was definitely not one of them, members of their inner circle, people worthy of association. She saw the look on her sister Bellatrix's face and followed close on her heels as she went to approach Andromeda.
A wicked smirk played on Narcissa's lips as she listened to Bella's words for their sister. She couldn't have said it better herself. Narcissa decided to take the other approach, while Bella was confronting Andromeda, she went over to Ted, careful not to stand too close. He was a mudblood after all and she didn't want to get tainted by the filth he was made of.
"Tell me," she spoke to the Hufflepuff in a low and dangerous tone. She circled around him, her head held up in a superior way, after all, compared to him, she was royalty. "Did you know who you were dancing with? Did you have any idea that she was someone who was not only off limits to someone like you, but a member of one of the oldest and most respected wizarding families in our world?" She once again circled around him and then walked over to where Lucius was. "Come with me," she said in a low tone, wrapping her fingers around Lucius' and pulling him towards where Ted was standing.
"Take a good look at the wizard who stands before you. He, is worthy, someone who is pure, comes from a respectable family and who is like us. You are nothing like he, nor us, therefore you will not, can not, deserve not someone like Andromeda." She took a step closer to him and narrowed her eyes, her brows arched giving her a look of pure sinistry. "Do you have any idea what your actions here tonight have done?" She stared at him for a few moments and then turned her head away from him and looked towards her sister, her crystal blue gaze now penetrating Meda's blue gray eyes.
"Your actions here tonight are not only incredibly stupid, but life altering as well. I would have thought that you would have sense enough NOT to associate with someone beneath you. You have been pre-warned, you knew the standards set back by our family centuries ago, yet you chose to ignore it. The consequences will be most severe." She let out a low and dark laugh and turned her back on her sister. She began walking away from her and then stopped, turning around in a quick movement, facing Andromeda once more, "you are no better than the one you chose to associate with, you do not deserve to bare our family name, you are now...... a bloodtraitor."

| He spared a glance over at Bellatrix but then locked his eyes on Sadira...or so it seemed. He was looking at her, but he was more or less looking over her at his brother, dancing with some who even knew what and then to Naricssa, who had drug Lucius across the room to Andromeda and Ted Tonks. "Cissy's going to raise some hell." He smirked and let his eyes fall full on her now as he leaned back against the wall.
"They are quite ridiculous some of them." He eyed Sirius particularly just because anything his brother was wearing, doing, or saying must me ludacris in some way. "You easily beat out most of the other girls here." He said dryly, giving a frown at the girl Sirius was dancing with. Who is that? He wasn't wondering because he wanted her for his own, but because he wondered how Sirius managed to snag girls like that. But then something even more surprising came into his sights...Severus Snape...dancing...with a girl. The night was getting more and more stange by the minute...a lot like his mind as a matter of fact.
He held a hand out to Sadira and smirked. "Let's dance."

| Sadira's eyes drifted over towards Narcissa and Lucius when Regulus made his comment. An evil look of satisfaction spread across her lips as she watched Narcissa heading over towards her sister and another student there dressed in a pirate costume. "I am sure that she is. She has quite the temper, I have seen it a few times, though it nowhere matches the one Bellatrix has." She let out a low and dark sounding laugh. She knew the Black sisters well, and whatever they were saying or doing there, it was sure to be something that the person it was directed to, wouldn't soon forget.
"You easily beat out most of the other girls here." She looked at Regulus as he said this and though his tone was a bit dry when he said it, she took it as a great compliment. "I am glad that you approve," she told him, a sly smirk on her face. "We at least have taste in our costumes, look at some of these people, they look ridiculous, and I bet half of them think they look good."
She turned her attentions towards Sirius who was dancing with a girl in a rather atrocious green and black dress. "I have no idea who she is but if she's dancing with that bloodtraitor brother of yours, she's no one that I want to know." She then looked a bit passed Sirius and the girl he was dancing with and she spotted Severus, dancing with some blonde girl in a pale green gown. "Severus is dancing, did you see that?" she asked, a very curious look on her face. "I never thought I would ever see that, I wonder who she is?"
She smiled as Regulus held his hand out to her and she took it. She walked a few steps closer to him and placed her arms around his neck. She had never been this close to him before and she had a feeling it might be a dangerous thing, not that she minded. She had been able to keep her thoughts about him to herself, it had been easy. Now, standing this close to him, dancing with him, it was going to take a bit of self discipline to remain focused.

| It took him a moment or two to get over the shock of what had just tumbled from his mouth. He blinked a few times and looked down at Dorcas, taking in a deep breath. "It's nothing." He muttered, looking off to the side as if some floating decoration or other was very interesting. "Don't get use to it...." He said almost as if it were a warning. He turned his attention back to her for a moment and offered a very rare, but small smile almost as an afterthought. "I knew who you were right away...bit hard to forget that dress." He said almost sadly as if the realization that, after tonight, they'd probably never talk again began to sink in.
He spied Sirius nearby dancing with someone who was more than likely Lily Evans...that hair was unmistakable. Then there was Regulus...acting too much like Sirius for his tastes, also taking the floor. In his mind it was beginning to get a bit too crowded in here. "Would you like to take a walk? It's getting a bit...crowded in here."

| Ted hardly even realized what was happening until Bellatrix pulled Andromeda away from him and took his eye patch and scarf off. He groaned inwardly, reflecting that it had all ended way too soon, even though he knew it wouldn't last long, for now anyway. He frowned lightly as Bellatrix talked to Andromeda - he didn't have a good feeling about it. He knew the other girl couldn't do much to her sister in the presence of so many people, but he was quite worried as to what she would do to her once away from prying eyes. He hadn't thought he would be putting her into so much trouble by talking to her - he had hoped they wouldn't noticed, but apparently he had been wrong. And if he had known, maybe he wouldn't... no. He didn't regret it, definitely not. He had spent one of the greatest evening in his entire life, apart from the last few moments, but dancing with Andromeda, talking to her and having her close to him made it up very well. He only hoped it was the same for her.
When Narcissa arrived, following her sister, he couldn't help but roll his eyes. He was surprised, however, when she talked to him instead of her sister - who'd have known that bitchy Narcissa Black could lower herself to the point of talking to a mudblood, even if it was only to insult him? As she started circling him with her head held high, he couldn't help but laugh a little but covered it up with a small cough. After all, the situation was pretty funny. They were all so conceited and thought of themselves as more important than anybody else. To him, they were no better than the others - they were even lower. They lived in their own little Slytheriny world of delusions and sneers, and frankly, he didn't know what was better - hating them or pitying them. As she asked if he knew who he had been dancing with, he decided lying was the best option in this case - not to save his skin, but hers.
"Nope, no clue at all. She probably didn't know either, after all I hardly even know her and we never spoke before - not that that's surprising with a family like that..." he said innocently with a light shrug. "She probably didn't even know my name before that one said it," he added, nodding his head at Bellatrix. He watched amusedly as Narcissa retreated toward Lucius only to come back, bringing him back with her. He was restraining the laughter that threatened escaping him so hard that he figured he must have had broken a few ribs already. As she told him to take a good look at Lucius, he took a fake serious expression and nodded sternly, turning to look at Lucius and examining him as though he was a museum piece of art. When she then mentionned that he was nothing like them, he simply couldn't help but laugh. "Cause I'd want to be anything like you? Princess, I'm much more happier with being a mudblood than anybody like any of you. Nobody wants to be like you, except those who already are. You only do the same as all your little friends. Hey, like monkeys!" he said with a smile.
He quickly bent down to pick up his eye patch and scarf which Bellatrix had dropped on the floor before standing straight again with a wide grin. "Well your highness, I must tear myself from your side," he said with a bow. "Toodles," he added before leaving the Great Hall before anybody could even realize what had happened. He made his way to the Hufflepuff Common Room as fast as he could, took out a piece of parchment and a quill, along with some ink, and started writing a letter to Andromeda.

| Somehow he had become a bit distracted from Narcissa, not that anything could grab his senses the way she did it was just, well....it was odd to see Severus Snape dancing...with a girl....and not having a heartattack. What was more was that Lucius knew he was dancing with Dorcas Meadows which also struck him as odd, but he wasn't going to argue the point at the moment, seeing as though Narcissa was dragging him off by the hand to harass her sister. When the scene came into view he understood full well why. Andromeda was dancing with Ted Tonks, a boy much below their family's status, which he knew Narcissa would find VERY unacceptable. But he was being used as an example, so it was his chance to swoop in.
He gave a fanged smirk and circled the couple a moment before stopping in front of Ted and tilting his head up in nothing short of a regal manner. "Cissy's right." He grinned, taking a moment to shoot a glare at Andromeda. "I am the image of purity." He drug the word out a bit, glorifing his own status. "And much more of a wizard than the likes of you ever will be." His gray eyes moved back to Andromeda now and he turned just slightly to face her. "How does it feel to sink to the ranks of your blood traitor cousin in a matter of seconds? The actions you have put in motion here tonight make you no better than him. What's worse is that you disgrace a most noble and respectable name." He snorted and took Narcissa by the hand. "I hope you are happy with the path you have chosen, do not expect the bridge to our doorstep to be rebuilt." He smirked and walked away with Narcissa, pleased with both the humiliation they must have just set on the couple as well as the hinting at his and Narcissa's soon-to-be engagement.

| "I wont get used to it," she said with a smile. She was quite lucky that he didn't turn her and Marly in. They would have gotten a weeks worth of detention and Marly would never forgive her for making her sneak her in there in the first place. "Once I realized it was you, I assumed that you must have known who I was. Outside of Marly, no one else knew what my costume was going to be. So, you think my dress is unforgettable?" She looked into his eyes with a curious expression. It was certainly one of the best compliments that she had ever recieved. She never expected to see this side of Severus, never knew it even existed, but over the last two days, she was seeing a whole different side to him.
Her eyes glanced briefly towards Sirius and she saw that he was still dancing with the woman in the green and black dress. She quickly looked back to Severus as she heard him speaking again. He had just asked her to go for a walk with him, and though she probably shouldn't, she was here with Sirius, she slowly nodded her head. "It is a bit crowded, where do you want to go?" She wasn't exacltly sure why she agreed, or what was going through her head right now, she just knew one thing. Something was intriguing her about the man before her. The way his dark eyes sparked off a bit of mystery, the way he was with her, gentle, complimentitive and she just felt comfortable with him.

| He wasn't one to hand out compliments like they were candy, in fact hardly at all, but with her it was like he couldn't help himself. "It is, especially on you." He started, glancing at Sirius before he continued. "If it's not too bold of me to say, you look quite...quite beautiful." It took him a few moments to work his mouth around the words he was forcing out. Had he gone mad? Quite possibly, but somehow he didn't care. He didn't care if Sirius or anyone else could hear what he was saying. For once he was enjoying something that wasn't him sitting in the dungeon, pouring over his potions book as if his life depended on it. He looked carefully into her eyes for a moment. He never thought anyone could bring this sort of thing out in him...hell...he didn't even know he had the ability to be this way, but here he was, doing just that and honestly, he had no complaints about it.
He looked around as the song they were dancing to started to end. No better time than now to quietly slip out into the garden away from all the people and have a chat. He reached a hand back and took one of her hands in his, nodding to a nearby doorway. "Let's go. The garden's right there and it should be quiet." He quickly lead her from the dance floor before Sirius could get the chance to come pummel him.

| The compliments continued from Severus and it seemed like Dora couldn't stop smiling. She was definitely not used to this much attention from anyone, not that she was complaining by any means, she was enjoying them and enjoying talking to Severus, something that she never imagined would happen. She just wondered what her friends were going to think, going to say. Regardless of what they thought about it, she didn't really care. She was seeing a side to Severus that she knew they hadn't.
"If it's not too bold of me to say, you look quite...quite beautiful." She looked at him, her smile growing a bit more as these words came from his lips. "It's not too bold to say, and thank you, though all these compliments you are giving me might go to my head a bit." She laughed lightly and then felt his hand come up and take hers into his. She had to admit that this came as a bit of a shock to her. He had always appeared to be shy, and not the type she thought would be so bold, but here he was saying all of these sweet things to her and now he was holding her hand.
She instinctivly wrapped her fingers around his and nodded as he mentioned going to the garden. She certainly hoped that Sirius wasn't going to be upset about this, but, after all, they were just going outside for a walk and to talk, and like Sirius had mentioned earlier, their relationship was not serious, he had never mentioned anything ever, about her being his girlfriend and the two of them had never kissed or anything. It was just a bit of a flirting relationship, nothing more, nothing spoken.
She allowed him to pull her along, across the dance floor and out the door. She had no idea what they would talk about, but she was definitely curious.

| Narcissa glared at Ted, her eyes narrowing, giving him a dangerous look. "Whether or not she knows who you were, which I very much think she did, and you her, makes no matter. She should have known, and realized who she was speaking with and knew, that someone like you is off limits to her." She continued to listen to him as he spoke to her further and gave him a hateful look at the things he was saying. She then let out a dark laugh. "I would never expect you to understand our ways, they are something that we very strongly regard as a law so to speak. I have nothing further to say to you, I have wasted enough of my time as it is."
She then remained silent as Lucius spoke up to him and she listened to him carefully, her smirk on her lips very matter of fact and she nodded along with what he said. Then she heard what he was saying to her sister, Andromeda and he couldn't be any more right. He knew the ways that things were supposed to be and she couldn't love him more than she did right now. She felt very lucky that she had him. She had always loved him, always felt something there for him, he was her perfect match.
She felt him take her hand and listened as he spoke once more. "I hope you are happy with the path you have chosen, do not expect the bridge to our doorstep to be rebuilt." She was a bit taken back by this last comment he made to Andromeda and a rare smile spread across her face. She looked up at him, her crystal blue eyes looking into his. She couldn't be positive but it sounded like he was thinking ahead to their future, together. Our doorstep, meaning their home, together. Perhaps she was looking to much into this, she would have to wait and see but a thought hit her with all of this. Was it possible that one day she would no longer Narcissa Black, but Narcissa Malfoy? She certainly hoped so. Nothing would make her happier. She wanted to be with him, spend her life with him, have his children one day.
She walked away from her sister without another word to her, her hand still gripped in Lucius. When they arrived back at the spot that they were before she looked up at him, once more locking her eyes into his gray gaze and she took a step closer towards him. Her thoughts of rage by her sister's actions suddenly erased from her mind, at least for now. She took the hand that wasn't holding his and brought it up to his hair, gently brushing away a few strands that had fallen over his eyes. "You said everything perfectly back there," she whispered to him, "it's too bad that Andromeda doesn't have someone like you in her life, someone that can make her as happy as you make me, someone that the family can respect. But, after all, there is only one Lucius Malfoy, and I am certainly never letting him go."

| As he danced, he could tell the song was nearing it's end, and not a moment to soon either. It was definitely not his dance partner but the music these professors chose was absolutely ridiculous. But it was finally coming to an end and Sirius would end the dance as well with a flashy move, he would place a hand on the woman's back and throw her into a dip, then bringing her back to full stance. His smile never leaving his face and as he released her hands he would slick back the hairs that had became misplaced from the last move. "Well thats a relief, wouldn't want to have to defend myself from some guy who had gone mad with rage." He told her as she informed him that she had come alone, however irony had just then struck as he glanced over towards where he left Dory and the vampire standing. It seemed as if they had also engaged in the dance and by the look in the both of their eyes, it happened to be more than just a dance, it was one of those moments. Trying to not let his frustration show Sirius returned his gaze back to the lady he had just danced with, the same smile on his lips. "Thank you so much for the dance. But I must take my leave for now." He would say as he placed a kiss to the back of her hand. He took off at a slight run trying to get through the crowd of students, colliding with a few and recieving some unsatisfied glares, but it did not phase him. His cape would snap as it trailed on his back and swoosh behind him, his thoughts of pranking seemed to flee for the moment.
A quick glance and his eyes would fall onto a girl ripping another girls mask off. And to his suprise she would tear a guys mask off as well, always drama he thought to himself as he came to a stop and watched the scene for a few moments. How he hated those that picked on others, especially others that considered themselves higher up because of their blood. It sickened him, always forced those memories of his family back, how they thought they were superior because they were "pure" it was insanity. Pure or not, it wasn't the blood that made the witch or wizard, it was the magic, at least thats how he looked at it anyway, and it was proven to him time and time again by Prongs' new lass Evans. She was muggleborn and better than half the purebloods in this place, though to hear them speak it would never be acknowledged, and that was when he saw it. The mask that had been torn from the girl was indeed Andromeda, his cousin, and the only memeber of the Black family he could stand to be around. And the guy, Ted Tonks, a muggleborn wizard, then a few more would approach the two. He knew they had to be Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Lucius. The four people he hated most in this world, and they had just found out Andromeda was mingling with a muggleborn.
Something inside Sirius had taken over, he couldn't just stand there, he was loyol to those he cared for, and Andromeda was always good to him, and Ted was friendly enough the few times he had spoken to him. Filled with anger, his hands balled into fists as he clinched them together. He would begin stomping towards the group paying no attention to those he ran into, he wanted to pull out his wand but had enough sense to know that wouldn't be a good idea. He did not want to risk getting into anymore trouble, and dealing with these people, that would certainly start something. As he approached he could feel his anger boil even more, he couldn't stomach being around any of them, one hand would reach up to his mask where he would rip the thing off and let it fall to the floor. He didn't care any longer who saw who he was. Finally reaching them he forced his way through by pushing Narcissa and that git Lucius out of his way, his eyes narrowed as he looked around at the five people he was now with. "What is going on here!?!" He would ask half yelling, he hated being near them, it took every bit of control for him to not curse them all into oblivion. He knew he would not be welcomed but he really did not care in the least, he wasn't going to stand for the three thinking they could get away with anything just because they had pure blood coursing through their veins.

| He smiled to himself as she wrapped her arms around his neck and was just about to comment on the fact of Severus dancing and make some outlandish sort of guess at who Sirius was dancing with, but then the great git himself came storming across the dance floor looking fit to kill with that look in his eyes. He was heading for Bella and the others, surely ready to tear them down for what they had just done to Andromeda and that Fred whatever his name was. He and Andromeda had always gotten along well and he knew that she felt the same things he did about Sirius, he just didn't share those thoughts with anyone. This would be the perfect opportunity to have a good ol' family reunion. He smirked and turned his attention to Sadira and frowned a bit, trying to ward of the smirk that was creeping across his lips that he wasn't sure wasf rom getting to talk to Sirius (even though it was more or less going to be yelling) or from some other unknown origin that would dawn on him later...maybe his mother's thoughts were finally starting to seep into his brain and he was looking forward to humiliating them some more, but a good part of him hoped that that was not the case. "Excuse me a moment, my brother's being an idiot again." He bowed slightly and swept across the floor in his brother's wake, pulling the red mask from his face and kicking Sirius' aside as he went.
"Only what we were raised to do, dear brother." He mocked, leaning on Sirius' shoulder the way any brother would, but considering the circumstances with them it was more or less to be annoying. "Put people like him," he nodded towards Ted, "in their place." His eyes locked onto Andromeda's and he let out a small, undetectable sigh. He felt sorry for what they had done to her, but he wasn't going to admit to it infront of Bella and Cissy. He pushed away from Sirius, hoping to knock him a bit off balance as he did so and leaned over close to Andromeda, hoping to make it seem he was further ridiculing her. "I'm sorry...we need to talk." He whispered, very low, so only she could hear, but the look on his face was one to match the sneer Cissy wore. "Dungeon. Midnight." He said simply before leaning back and forcing as much venom into his stare as possible. "That's just how things are." He said as if it were an afterthought. He turned on his heel to face his brother, giving him an almost curious sort of look. "Did you realize that Severus took off with your date or is she just like every other girl to you, Siri?" He hardly ever called him that anymore, it was usually "blood traitor" or something to that effect. That was what he had called him growing up and he half hoped he hadn't noticed and think that he was going soft.

| Andromeda’s cloudy, dream-like state was soon broken as another’s presence came close. It seemed everything shattered and fell and one simple word was whispered in her ear. The voice was that of her sister Bellatrix. Next thing she knew her mask was ripped off and Bella was heading over to rip off the boy she had been having such a wonderful time with. Bella said something but it did not reach Meda’s ears quickly; she was in too much of a shocked state to understand anything. As his eye-patch and scarf fell to the floor Meda’s eyes widened. It was that 7th year Hufflepuff muggleborn Ted Tonks. Meda looked away, closing her eyes as she did. She had not expected it to be this bad. Yes she had guessed he was no Slytherin which she knew her sisters wouldn’t be too mad about, but a muggleborn was banishment. She held back tears as Bella spoke. "Good evening Andromeda, how has your night been?" her sister’s voice spoke sarcastically for those few words then changed to anger as she continued. “You were a Black. One of the few authentic pureblooded families in the Wizarding world, and you go and betray us by dancing with this?" She then swung her arm towards Ted to show that ‘this’ was him. "You knew what was expected, yet you decided to go and try to... bend the rules so to say, did you?" Her sisters voice then lowered itself, sounding dangerous, "Let it be known, Andromeda, you will not get away with this one. Lies won't get you very far this time."
Anger boiled beneath Meda’s skin, but she did not dare show it. She then noticed Cissy, who was now speaking to her. "Your actions here tonight are not only incredibly stupid, but life altering as well. I would have thought that you would have sense enough NOT to associate with someone beneath you. You have been pre-warned, you knew the standards set back by our family centuries ago, yet you chose to ignore it. The consequences will be most severe." Cissy then began walking away, bu stopped momentarily and said, "you are no better than the one you chose to associate with, you do not deserve to bare our family name, you are now...... a bloodtraitor." Cissy’s words burnt through Meda. a bloodtraitor. She had a good time and now she was dubbed a bloodtraitor. This is what happiness gets it seems, pain.
She noticed Ted leaving the Great Hall and wanted to fall into an outbreak of tears. What was such a magnificent time now ended so brutally. Is this what happens whenever she gets an ounce of joy. She then turned to her sisters to speak; her voice was shaky trying not to let the anger out, “I didn’t know, I swear. I should have realized it, but I didn’t. I am sorry for causing such harm to the family name. I will do anything to make up for it.”
Next one she heard was Lucius. "How does it feel to sink to the ranks of your blood traitor cousin in a matter of seconds? The actions you have put in motion here tonight make you no better than him. What's worse is that you disgrace a most noble and respectable name. I hope you are happy with the path you have chosen, do not expect the bridge to our doorstep to be rebuilt." Meda glared at him. As if it where her fault any of this happened? It was that Tonks that had started this, he who knew her. She had no idea who that mudblood was. Meda mentally slapped herself for using such a vulgar word even in thoughts. He did not deserve to be called a mudblood. He probably didn’t know the consequences his actions would have on Meda.
As Meda turned away from glaring she noticed someone in a phantom costume approach the little group that now surrounded Meda. He seemed angry and as she spoke she knew it was true and why so. It was Sirius Black, her cousin that was dubbed bloodtraitor himself. Meda looked up to her enraged cousin. She was about to tell him it be best to leave, but then Regulus, another one of Meda’s cousins and Sirius’s brother, showed up. Oh look it’s a family reunion, Meda thought in sarcastic humor. Regulus wasn’t a bad cousin, she actually didn’t have problem with him, in fact they both got along well, but she knew he was not going to show kindness with her sisters around.
Meda heard him say a few words to Sirius, but did not listen. She was so furious at the happenings that night. Then he leaned over towards Meda and she listened. She was careful to wear the same teary-eyed expression as she did earlier even though what he said was not hurtful. She just had to make sure the others did not see that. “Okay,” She spoke in a whisper only he could here. What a night this was. She was surely going to be in for lots of glares, sneers, and yelling when she reached to common room, that is if she was even brave enough to go there after all the drama of the ball. She stood there waiting in some slight hop she may be somewhat forgiven, but knowing her sisters she highly doubted it.

| Just as Sadira was getting ready to dance with Regulus and saw his small smile towards her she saw Sirius Black walking, almost running by them. No doubt heading to the scene with Andromeda and her sisters. She knew before Regulus even said anything that he was going to be going over there. Sirius was his brother, unfortunately, and the rest of his family was congregated there, so he should be there as well to see what was going on.
She nodded as he excused himself from her and then watched as he walked away. Most of her friends were over there and whatever was happening, it looked a bit chaotic. Masks were being ripped off and upon further looking at Narcissa, she could see the pure venom on her face. "I'm going over there," she said out loud to no one in particular and she slowly made her way over. She could see that Regulus was already having words with Sirius so she walked over beside Bellatrix, they were after all best friends.
She felt bad for Andromeda in a way. She did go against her family's strict guidelines of association with those that they deemed unworthy, but still, seeing her standing there, all these people yelling at her, the looks that they gave her. She would hate to be in that position. Sadira was as wicked and venomous as Narcissa and Bellatrix were, but certain things that their family believed, she did not. Yes she was a pureblood, and that was very important in her family, to keep the pure bloodlines going, but she had met quite a few witches and wizards, not pure, who were just as intelligent, ruthless and stood for the same beliefs she did. She didn't judge them because they may or may not have a completely pure bloodline. Take Severus Snape for instance. He was only a half blood but was nothing short of brilliant at potions making and spells creation. He was on the same side as her, had the same beliefs, was she going to like him any less because of who his father was? No.
She of coarse wouldn't share any of this with Bella or Cissy, and certainly not Regulus. His family was the same that was standing there ridiculing Andromeda for her actions. If she told him what she thought, he would probably hate her, and she couldn't face that happening, not when she felt so strongly about him. She leaned back against the wall next to where Bella was standing and just simply watched what was going on.

| "Whether you knew who he was doesn't matter! You should've known better than dancing with random people, you should've known to play it safe and stay with those you know!" She spat at Meda, her voice laced with venom, her hands on her hips. Turning her head she saw they had two new visitors; That so-called cousin, and Regulus. "Look Sirius, now you and Meda can start a club!"
Bellatrix started loating standing in that spot... to many unworthy feet have stood there, and breathed that air. She quickly turned back to Meda and spoke "Don't think just because I'm walking away that this is over." She shot Regulus a glance as if saying 'Good luck with these two' before turning on her heal and striding over to Sadira.
She didn't even stop walking as she grabbed hold of Sadira's arm and pulled her over to the other end of the room. Turning around to face her, Bella said "You know... it really doesn't surprise me."

| Willow Knightley walked into the Great Hall. She was very late to the Masquerade Ball they were having here. She had been playing a mental tug of war with herself for the last hour deciding whether or not she was coming. Finally she decided that going here was better than spending the night in the common room alone, though she would much rather be playing quidditch, now that was something she loved. Playing chaser on her Gryffindor team was something she not only enjoyed, but was quite good at.
When she had first seen her costume her mother had sent her she thought it looked a bit ridiculous, but now that she had finally tried it on, it wasn't so bad. She just hated the fact that she had to wear a mask with it. She tried to convince Professor McGonagall to let her wear her quidditch goggles instead, but it didn't work. That woman was impossible to get to bend her rules, even slightly.
She looked around the room, her pale blue eyes checking out everyone there. There were some pretty great costumes, as well as quite a few odd looking ones so she didn't feel as uncomfortable as she thought she would. She just wished that she knew what one of her friends was wearing, she had no clue and she didn't want to go up to anyone and just start talking to them, what if it turned out to be one of the Black sisters? Or worse, Lucius Malfoy, now he was someone that made her skin crawl. The way he talked, thought him self so above everyone else, she couldn't stand people like that.
She saw a table set up towards the back of the room and saw that it had drinks on it. She took a bottle of butterbeer from a bucket of ice and opened it, raising the bottle to her lips and taking a long swig off of it. She figured for now, she would just hang out by the table and watch people, study them and she if she could figure out who anyone was, or see if anyone approached her.

| He stood there, the anger was indeed apparent, the look in his eyes, the fists that wanted to draw the blood of his family. How dare they treat his cousin the way they were, it was disgusting, it made him ashamed to carry the name Black. He hated it, being a bloodtraitor didn't phase him in the least anymore, he's been called that for so long it was starting to have a nice ring to it. Typical of them though. they lacked the thought process to come up with anything else, thinking they are so much better, they can't even think for themselves, the lot of them. Following some Dark Lord like little puppy dogs, it was ridiculous, it was quite funny actually, but it didn't stop the anger he would feel everytime he was in the same vicinity as them. Meda looked as if she were about to burst into tears filled with rage, and it was enough for Sirius' sympathy to nearly take control and he brings about the demise of Bellatrix, Narcissa and Lucius. But he kept his cool, he wouldn't give them all the satisfaction, he would just stare at them all, one at a time.
Then all of a sudden he felt someone lean on his shoulder, and the voice, the voice he heard, it was Regulus. He would listen, it took everything he had to stay in control, he couldn't do anything, he was outnumbered, he had to suffer the touch of Regulus, it made him sick. Finally it was over with, he felt the shove that made him take a step back but he never moved another inch. "What you do best you say? And what might that be Regulus?" He began asking trying to keep his voice from flat out screaming the words. "If by best you mean being a complete mule's ass, I'd say you all accomplished that goal the minute you were born." It was a remark full of hatred and distaste, but carried that certain Sirius flavor. It was suprising to him to be able to keep himself in control like he was. Were they somewhere else besides Hogwarts, the situation could've had a bit more danger added, but as it was none of them dared lift a finger or grab a wand. Another thing that he thought was funny, they all supposedly were these vicious witches and wizards yet none of them dared try anything in the presence of authority figures. Cowards he thought to himself, at least have the gall to prove that your purity is better, that you are such a high and mighty force. It was all stupidity.
Again Regulus spoke, only this time it was about Dory and the vampire who by what his brother said turned out to be none other than Snape. And it dawned on him, he had been friendly to the guy, actually spoke to him without any harsh words, 'damn masks' he told himself mentally. "As a matter of fact I did notice that Reggie." He spat the name out with distaste, "Snape probably pissed himself and decided to ask her to show him how to remove the stain, other than potions the guy really isn't that great of a wizard from what I've seen." Each sarcastic comment seemed to calm him, his hands finally unclenched and he would flash a wink over to his cousin Meda. Deciding to really get things heated Sirius slung his arm around Regulus and put him in a headlock where he proceeded to give him a noogie. How he hated it but the response he would get would be priceless, and to make even more fun Sirius would speak to him in an almost friendly tone. "So little brother. I see you've been spending time with that lass Sadira Parkinson." He let go of his head and smiled as friendly as he could at him. "Learining from your big brother huh? I'm so proud." He would say it with mockery, he knew Regulus would be angered, but he just couldn't resist the temptation.

| Where he should be making snide comments back to Sirius about being a mule's arse, he remained silent, with his eyes locked on Meda for a few moments before he turned his attentions back to Sirius.
He opened his mouth to say something, but ignored all of Sirius' prior statements about being an arse when he found himself hunched over slightly in a headlock. My, was this a lot like old times. He struggled for a moment, swiveling a bit on the spot and working a foot back behind Sirius'. "You know how much I admire you." He prodded back, trying to lace the comment with both mockery and sincerity all in one. It was in that moment he decided to pull his foot back, thusly pulling Sirius' out from under him and knocking him flat onto his back on the floor. "Learned from the best." He grinned and promptly decided to seat himself on Sirius' chest and staring down at him with a mocking innocence only a little brother could put on.

| Andromeda mind was full of anger and sadness. Everything, absolutely everything, was ruined. She had done her best for years to be as perfect as could be; following everything she was told by her sisters and her parents. Now here she stood, dubbed a bloodtraitor after one mistake. One mistake was all it took to be shunned by the family; one little dance with a muggleborn ad it was bye-bye Meda. Meda wanted to curse her sisters into oblivion right then and there, and that urge to do so only grew with every word that her sister Bellatrix spat at her, but Meda withheld herself and resisted. Hexing them would only make things worse and she knew she would regret it later. It was only the anger making her want to do it, so she decided not to listen to it and try and push it back as far as she could in the back of her mind.
As Bellatrix walked away and spoke her last words, Meda narrowed her eyes at her. She would not say anything, she couldn’t. Any words she wanted to say were words of anger and she did not want to stoop to their level of cruelness. She did not want to be like them and the events of the night may have helped. The events revealed how quickly her sisters would turn on her; it showed how much they did not care. They did not love Meda, they may have when they were all children, but they did not now.
She turned her attention back to her cousins who were acting completely childish. First Sirius gave his brother a noogie and then when Regulus regained himself from the headlock he tripped Sirius. Meda rolled her eyes at the sight. They were brothers and were bound to fight, but Sirius’s actions were more likely to be of anger then brotherly play and Regulus would show no affection towards his brother given the surrounding people. She let out a sigh and decided to leave the two to themselves. She picked up her mask and then looked back at the two. “If you two will excuse me, I think I will go get myself something to drink.” She said holding back all the anger that filled her from her sisters’ word and put on her mask before walking towards a table that held bottles of butterbeer. She probably would have just left the ball completely, but she had no where to go. The Common Room was by far the last place she would want to go.
When she got to the table she grabbed a bottle and opened it. She let out a sigh and then took a swig of it. What an eventful day this had been. She saw a girl in a cleopatra costume and smiled the best she could. She then took another swig of her butterbeer, waiting for some idea of what she was going to do now.

| "Well I think that I will get a butterbeer. Excuse me." She told Molly and Karen, and walked to the refreshment table.
She saw the commotion between the Black family, and was very glad that her family was not in that state. Bloodtraitors, and hates muggles, and just wow. If her family ever came to that in her lifetime, she would probably have a hissy fit. Sighing she walked through the crowd of students. Everyone was having a good time, but one girl who was at the Butterbeer table.
"Hey, Are you alright?" She asked the stranger, she looked like she was eith going to cry, or kill someone. "I'm Maddie Abbot...Aren't you Andromeda Black?" She asked. Maddie was always friendly and a good listener. "If you feel like talking...venting, anything I'm here." She gave her a reassuring smile, and grabbed a butterbeer.
Looking about the room, she waited for the girl to speak, Maddie only hoped that the girl didn't blow up on her.

| Andromeda was almost startled when a girl in a pirate costume. The second pirate costumed person to talk to her that night. Hopefully this one won’t cause her as much trouble. “I’m alright,” Meda spoke still trying to hold back the anger and misery. “Just had some trouble a bit earlier, but I think I can handle it.”
Meda nodded and replied, “Yeah I am Andromeda, but please call me Meda and I wouldn’t be calling me a Black right now. My sisters might throw a tiffy if they heard someone associating me with the family right now. But anyways it’s nice to meet you Maddie.”
Meda smiled back the best she could. “No I am good. Tryin’ to keep back my horrible emotions for now. I need a clear head and all, you know? I need to be able to sort through my confusion first.” She let out a deep sigh and continued. “Anyways I am gonna talk to my cousin later and he would probably be better t talk to cause he knows more of what happened, but thanks for the offer.”
Meda took a swig of her butterbeer and then turned fully to the girl. “I like your costume by the way.” She might as well try and enjoy the rest of the night best she could and anyways talking about other things might help forget the emotions for the time being.

| "Well, I'm sorry about that earlier." She whispered. Maddie thought that everyone in the whole hall had heard that little mess. "So, Meda, aww, well you know, this is my opinion but if I was you, I wouldn't care if my sisters didn't like who I talked to. But then again I'm not a Black...I would be more than likely end up like Sirius if I was in your family." She laughed.
"Well, cousins are good too." She smiled, taking another swig of her butterbeer. "It's nice to have somebody to go talk to you know? In my case it would be my mom. I don't have any siblings..i'm an only child." Maddie didn't know why she was telling Meda her life story, surely she didn't want to hear about her life.
"Thanks, I love it...but had trouble escaping McGonagalls eye you know. She was giving me the death stare, but hey, mine costume is not as bad as some of them here." Maddie smiled. "I like yours too, I have a thing for Pirates!" She giggled.
