She squeaked when someone fell into the compartment, having been caught off guard, and nearly dropped her book. Her grip on it tightened so that she wouldn't lose such a precious object-well, at least it was in her mind. But, after all, she was the family book worm, valuing a good red more than life itself.
Blinking slightly in confusion, Emmeline looked up and saw a girl who was about her age. She smiled slightly at Karen's comment about the fourth years-it was true, studies showed that every year kids grew a little bit taller. Shaking her head, Emmeline said,
"No, it's all right, you're not bothering me Karen. I'm Emmeline Vance. If you'd like, you can stay in here. It's a lot less fourth year ridden," she finished with a slight chuckle and smile. Who would've figured that just after she thought it was going to be her first year without anyone in the same compartment, and then Karen crashes in. It was almost a bit...ironic in it's own weird way.
