Location: Divination Classroom
Date: November 1975
Status: Incomplete
Private or open: Open

Lucille Gail hummed a soft tune to herself as she hoisted her bag high on her shoulder and began climbing the rope ladder towards the divination classroom at the base of the north tower. She had finished up breakfast and decided to get a head start on her way to the far up classroom. Unlike most students she very much enjoyed divination, and thought it could prove very useful if used right. She often paid much attention during class, and often could be seen taking notes. Her favorite lesson so far though, was definitely astrology. She herself was a Pisces and checked her horoscope daily.

When she stepped out of the trapdoor opening into the room, she noted no others were there. 'There probably all down at breakfast... they'll be here shortly...' She assured herself, settling into a nice puffy chair and dropping her bag beside the leg of the table. Without quite thinking about it, she gazed into the crystal ball in the center of the table, just watching the smoke within twirl and dance. She often compared crystal balls to her own remembrall she carried with her. For a short period of time she was certain they were really the same object, and would stare into the small smoky remembrall and expect to see the silhouettes of her classmates, or small symbols she would rush to look up in her text book. She was lost in her thoughts until she was certain she saw the image of a young girl around 14 or 15 who looked much like herself in the crystal ball riding atop a black skeletal horse with wings.

Chuckling, she decided she would leave the divination work for when class began, and pulled out her 10" oak wand with unicorn tale core and her pale blue quill. "Winguardiam Leviosa" She said quietly, and smile as she watched her quill carefully float into the air. She moved her wand in all different directions and watched as the quill followed the movements, twisting and turning, until the other students started to file into the room.

On her way to the divinations classroom, Katerina took a small detour to the school kitchen and got herself an apple from the kind, hard working house elves. She would have stopped and ate in the Great Hall, but she felt like getting to class early that day. Surely Lucille Gail, a friend who loved divination, would be there ready to learn the fortunes that would be foretold that day.

Divination was one of the few subjects that Kat enjoyed. Yes most of the fortunes told were a bunch of bologna, mainly due to students who had no idea what they were doing, but there was always this allure to the subject. There were so many forms of divination; numerology, tea leaves, ball gazing, water gazing, palmistry, and so many other forms that originate from so many different places such as China and India. Kat’s personal favorites were tarot reading, and water and fire gazing.

When she entered the classroom she saw Lucille and smiled. She chuckled as she watched her friend levitate her quill. “Having fun are we?” she asked as she sat next to her. She grabbed a book from her school bag. “Got myself a new book from the library, Broken Balls: When Fortunes Turn Foul. Seemed like it might be an interesting read.” She smiled at her friend and then realized she had no idea what they were to be doing in class later. “Do you know what today’s lessons are oh wise Lucy?”

When Kat sat down across from her, Lucille quickly darted her eyes up from the quill to her friend, accidentally causing the quill to fall. "Yes, I was having a bit of fun... while it lasted." She chuckled, teasing her friend.

Kat and Lucy were good friends, and Lucy honestly didn't mind the fact that her friend required a drink of blood every once in while. It wasn't her fault this happed to her, so why should she have to make sacrifices for it, like giving up friends? Lucille didn't understand how people were scared of vampires. Sure, it could be frightening if you encountered one in the dark of night, but in broad daylight in the middle of a classroom? It wasn't like they would just randomly lunge at you across the table. At least not Kat... she didn't even like blood!

Her eyes gazed over to cover of the book as her friend pulled it out. "It looks very interesting, you'll have to let me borrow it when you finish." She spoke. "The lesson? Hmm.. I think Professor said we were doing palm reading today." She said, a look of thought on her face. "Oh, I mean; Oh wise Lucy thinks Professor said we're doing palm reading today." She laughed.

Katerina chuckled at Lucy’s comment. “Aww I am sorry I interrupted your fun.” She chuckled. “Will you ever forgive me?” She put on her best puppy dog eyes and lips jokingly.

Lucy was a kind girl and a great friend. Lucy and Willow, another friend, were the only ones who knew of Kat’s vampiric blood. Well the only two that knew for sure. Even though her friends never told a soul about her curse, there were still rumors around the school. She didn’t know who spread these rumors, but she had her suspicions set on one Rita Skeeter, though how she would know was beyond her. Rita Skeeter was a pesky little bug, no one really liked her. She was the queen of gossip and sadly a good portion of her gossip has truth in it.

Kat nodded as Lucy said she needed to let her borrow the book. “I will, it’s a good book. Has a few hilarious stories of some previous students here who had a mishap ‘cause of some broken crystal ball. Seems the professors were very careful.” Kat chuckled as Lucy said what what the lesson might be. “If it is, what perfect timing. I just read the chapter in our textbook the other night.” She sighed and continued, “It’s sad when one gets bored enough to read school books.”

Dorcas Meadowes climbed the rope ladder leading to the tower in which their Divination class was held. She entered the room, thinking she would be the first to arrive, but saw that there were two others here. Lucille and Katarina.

She walked over towards them, a friendly smile on her face, though not like her usual one. She had lost a bit of that with the events that had taken place over the past few days. She got looks from certain students after the Charms class incident. She was sure it had everything to do with her and Severus' interactions there. The looks bothered her a bit but not because of what they were thinking about things, because yet again, there was a bit of prejudice going on in the school. Her and Severus were different, together anyway, and unfortunately, that got people talking. She thought it was a bit ridiculous. She wasn't sure if these two would be friendly with her or not. She knew that Lucille was in the class at the time. The way she looked at it was, if you don't like it, then don't say anything. It was really no one's business anyway and the funny thing was, her and Severus were just friends, though his actions in class made people think otherwise. The more people said and the more people treated her differently, the further she distanced herself from them and the closer she was pushed towards the other group who had shown an interest in her, didn't judge her.

"Hi Lucille, Katarina. How are you?" She asked in a friendly tone. "Any idea what the lesson is going to be today?"
