Ted casually made his way to the dim lighted Great Hall, letting out a low whistle at the sight of the transfigured room. It really looked nothing like the room in which he ate three meals per day, every day of the week. It was completely different, as though he had stepped in a room he didn't know the castle posessed. There was a small amount of smoke in the room, not enough to cause any discomfort, but it still gave the place a rather spooky appearance along with the carved pumpkins that floated in the air. He shrugged lightly and stepped inside, looking around curiously, trying to figure if there are any student he knows among the small costumed crowd.

Of course, his eyes look for one person in particular, but she does not seem to be here yet. When Ted found out about this masquerade ball, he decided it would be the perfect occasion to approach her. His hair carefully hidden by the red scarf, a short, still rough-feeling beard growing on his face - caused by a spell his friend taught him - and the eye patch covering one of his eyes, he knows he doesn't look like himself and even someone who knows him would have troubles recognizing him. Considering the fact that the girl who he has been longing to meet for so long now never even looked at her, he figured his chances would be pretty good to go near her without being instantly rejected. He knows she wouldn't reject him because of his bloodline - or at least he hopes. But her sisters are another matter, and he fears that the young girl might be longing for her sisters' approval, which would cut short any meeting between them. Tonight, however, he was determined that it would change.

Seeing that she wasn't there yet, Ted made his way to one of the round tables that were aligned near the walls of the room, taking a seat and leaning back, listening to the soft beat of the music as his eyes were fixed on the door, waiting for her to come in.

Marlene sighed lightly as she made her way to the Great Hall, adjusting the small mask on her face with a light frown. The mask didn't feel all that comfortable and she had only put it on to play along - the professors had asked the students to wear masks, or at least something to cover a part of their face, as a masquarade tradition. But she could feel that she would take it off before the end of the evening... and she had her hopes up as to how it would be tossed aside, though she would probably die before admitting them and the simple thought made her cheeks turn red. She shook her head, lightly tossing her brown curls - Dora had insisted on curling her hair, despite her slight fright of the curling iron which to her looked like a tool used for torture only - and lightly tugging at the sleeves of her top. Her costume wasn't too revealing - though if she bent down, cleavage was no longer strong enough of a word - but the top was very fitting and left little to the imagination as to her body curves. When she had noticed how tight it was she had almost changed her mind, but Dora had forced her to keep it on, Remus' name coming up somewhere along the conversation, causing Marlene to blush deeply at the rememberance.

She pushed the thought away and finally stepped into the room, her eyes widening slightly as she looked around the Great Hall. She had seen it looking different before for other kind of events, but never as good as this. It looked simply amazing. She stepped inside the room, feeling slightly uncomfortable - Dora had told her to go ahead while she was still putting the finishing touch on her own costume, probably to impress Sirius, Marlene thought with a small smile. As Sirius' name crossed her head, it brought another name to her mind and she looked around the room, trying to find Remus among the crowd. She didn't know if he was there yet, but it didn't seem like it. After all, she was a bit early - there weren't much students gathered in the Hall yet, only maybe twenty of them, which considering the amount of students in the school was not very much. She walked over to a corner of the room, not feeling like sitting but not wanting to stand in the way either. Sighing lightly, she bit her bottom lip softly, almost feeling nervous though she couldn't quite figure out why.

Halloween Masquerade Ball 41K6E2WYPML._SS384_

Stepping lightly into the Great Hall, Karen glanced around to see how many people have already arrived. Although she noticed a few people standing around, she wasn’t positive of each person’s identity because of their masks. Adjusting the golden lace mask covering the upper half of her face, Karen self consciously tugged on the hem of her costume. Generally not a shy person, it was ironic that when the moment came for her to reveal her identity, she became more nervous then she’s ever been. Must be the fact that she didn’t recognize anyone here. In fact, the entire Hall looked completely transformed! The walls glimmered with some sort of shiny substance while candles danced in the air above everyone’s heads. Why, even the room itself looked bigger then usual!

Smoothing her brunette curls back behind her head, Karen adjusted the golden flower at her crown that glimmered and reflected the honey streaks in her hair. Feeling the lace mask scratch her face for a moment causing it to itch, her fingers fumbled to the back of her head and pulled at the delicate strings. As the golden lace drifted downwards, she breathed a sigh of relief and absentmindedly rubbed her forehead. Just then Professor McGonagall passed by and gave her a long disapproving frown at the mask in her hands. For some unknown reason, it was heavily encouraged that students wear their masks for the majority of the ball to help them socialize with other houses better. ‘Although heavily encouraged was just a fancy word for forced.’ Karen thought to herself with a stifled smirk. Quickly, Karen retied her mask and gave the stern Transfiguration professor an innocent smile as she quickly twirled to show off her costume. The golden accented corset grasped her waistline and flowed into a belt of golden leaves balancing on the tip of her hips. Her white silk cape rustled at her ankles in soft folds.

“Well, Proffessor? What do you think?” Karen asked as she clasped her hands together and grinned a bit too brightly at Professor McGonagall.

”Quite…quite lovely.” Professor McGonagall slowly said with her eyes glued to Karen’s costume hemline. Satisfied that it wasn’t to risqué, she looked up and gave the young girl an abrupt nod. “Venus, the goddess of love I believe it is?”

Smiling, Karen nodded. “Of course, I knew you’d get it on the first guess! Someone as brilliant as yourself would know all about Greek mythology.” Prof. McGonagall gave her a knowing look for her obvious flattery attempt and moved on. With a loud sigh, Karen fanned herself for a moment and approached the refreshment table to get a drink.

Madeline made her way to the Great Hall, she was really nervous, and hoped that her costume didn't draw much attention. Biting her lip till she got to the door, she cracked it slighty and looked in. Not many students were in there, so she decided that it was ok for her to go in. She slowly walked in, pulling her ruby red mask over her face. No one would recognize her. As she walked towards the refreshments, he long dark waves swayed behind her. Helping herself to some pumpkin jucie she went and sat down at a table, trying to ignore the glare that was cutting deep into her skin from McGonagall.

When she finally got to the chair she smoothed the bottom of her dress, and sat down. Looking around the room, Maddie couldn't believe that how the different the great hall was. Gazing around the room, she took in every detail that she saw. The pumpkins floating in mid air, the shimery walls, and the bit of fog that surrounded her boots. She loved it. She loved everything about magic. Playing with the lace at the hem of her dress, she sighed. Taking a sip of her juice she waited. She didn't know what she was waiting for, she just waited.

She decided not to just sit there like a bump on a log. She went for a little walk around the room. Seeing the other students laughing, and talking. Maddie didn't know who everyone was. She swore to herself, she hated the idea where everyone hade to wear masks, and then having to reveal their identities later. She sighed once more, walking in her boots. She could still feel McGonagall eyeing her but she really didn't care. As Maddie walked she waited...just because.

Melanie looked around the Great Hall boredly as she stepped in, running her fingers through her brown curls and letting them fall over her shoulders, lifting her chin slightly as her eyes scanned the room. Yeah, it looked different... so what? Seriously, everybody got so excited for nothing... She could almost feel the excitement coming out of every single student gathered in the room and it made her feel slightly sick. She shook her head and rolled her eyes, looking around for her friends. The thing she hated the most about this stupid Masquerade thing was that she wouldn't even be able to know who was talking to her, unless it was someone who's voice she knew very well, like Cissy. Stupid professor with their house unity project... mudbloods were unworthy of this place, efforts shouldn't be made to bring them all together. It was time those idiots realized what was going on - the clans had been made and now it was time to take a stand. Being neutral would be of no help in this situation. The dark Lord gave no choice - join or die. As for herself, it was clear in her mind which position she would be taking, it had always been. House unity was useless now, nothing could be done to bring the good and evil together, and she would gladly watch every traitors and unworthy scum suffer before her very eyes.

She slowly made her way to the refreshment table, her hips swaying with every step she took as her costume clung to her body curves. She felt rather proud of her look at the moment, the dark mask hiding half of her face but her eyes standing out because of the shiny silver eyeliner she had put on. Her lips were bronze colored with a light touch of green that fitted her costume, colors which could also be found in the light streaks she had applied in her hair, a dye which she knew would cause her some trouble as it would not leave for several days still and hair of any color was forbidden in the school, but she was not one to care. Her costume, which had been quite alright for any school event when she had first found it, was hardly even suitable now that she had brought some small alterations to it. The skirt was much shorter than it used to be, revealing most of her thighs, stopping a little below the curve of her bottom. The cleveage, which was non-existent before the dress had fallen between her hands, now showed a great amount of skin, without being vulgar. This kind of costume would have probably made anybody else look like a slut - for her, it was simply normal.

She twirled a lock of her dark brown hair around her long fingers, glancing at the professors that were present in the room. Most of them were quite oblivious to her costume - she was actually even sure she had caught one of them staring at her in a way that was surely inappropriate. They were all too busy having a good time themselves, just like the students that filled the room. However, when her eyes fell on Professor McGonagall, Melanie almost chocked with laughter, a light snicker coming out of her full lips. The woman seemed just about to explode, her face red and her eyes almost popping out of her head. Melanie knew there was nothing she could do, though. She had been careful to put on some holes-filled tights that covered her legs in a reasonnable manner, along with the almost transparent fishnet fabric that covered most of her costume. It was enough to keep her from being thrown out of the room for indecent exposure, but it still made her costume look like she wanted it to look.

Halloween Masquerade Ball Jester10

Hestia lingered into the Great Hall. She was wearing a jester costume that was black with mardi gras colors. It had taken Hestia forever to decide what she wanted to wear, but she had finally settled on this, a sexy jester outfit. It even came with the mask so she didn't need to search high and low for one like others did.

As she walked in she looked around. There weren’t many students there yet, but out of the ones there she didn’t recognize any of them. Suddenly she felt a bit nervous. What would she do? Just randomly tap people on the shoulders and ask who they were until she found someone she knew? That would solve the problem, but that would be highly embarrassing.

She tried to remember what some people were wearing in the Ravenclaw common room so she might somewhat realize who someone was and hopefully none of them had matching costumes. She thought back to before she left the common room. She remembered how the girls were more into the whole costumes thing more than the guys. There were even some girls ordering their boyfriends to go back to their dorm room and put on their costume.

After a while she gave up. She didn’t much pay attention to who was who and obviously she was bad at remembering things. Hopefully someone would recognize her and her worry of being alone would end. She made her way over to a buffet table that was covered in an array of delectable foods. She put a finger to her lip in thought. She couldn’t decide what to try first. The brownies and cookies all looked good, but what really caught hr eyes was a scrumptious looking cherry cheesecake that practically made her mouth water.

She cut herself a slice and placed it on her plate. She took a bite and sighed with delight. She then walked over to the wall near the table and leaned against it, enjoying her yummy slice of cheesecake.

Halloween Masquerade Ball Ph

Approaching the massive doors that would lead him into the Great Hall, Sirius would pause for a moment before entering the grand area where the Halloween Ball was taking place. Of course he had to make a spectacular entrance, but it was a shame no one would know who was behind it. Then again they might given his past deeds. But he couldn't be upset over the whole mask thing, it would make pulling something off so much easier and no one would know who the culprit was. It was the perfect night to engage in one of his famous hijinks. Deciding to not waste anymore time Sirius with wand in hand pushed the heavy wooden doors open and with a loud boom confetti and streams of colored paper would float from the charmed cieling down and around his body. A proud form would be standing in the entrance for all to see, and the night had just began. After getting a few displeased looks from a few professors Sirius decided to not push his luck and allow things to cool down a bit before setting his plan in motion. Raking a hand through his thick black hair he made his way on in and immersed himself in the ocean of costumed students that had already arrived, and boy were there some mighty fine lasses strutting about. Of course he had asked Dory to be his date but that didn't mean he couldn't take the pleasure of having a dance or two with a few ladies as he awaited her arrival. There were pirate vixens, and goddesses, and some things he had no idea what were but looked quite lovely nonetheless. As he made his way through the crowd over toward the refreshment table he made sure to take in each professors patrol route, especially that old bat McGonnagall, she was responsible for many of his detentions and he didn't really want to spend another one with her. For some reason the smell she gave off irritated him something fierce, and a small laugh escaped him at the thought of that.

Being so immersed in his learning the professor's routes Sirius ran smack dab into a very angelic figure. "Pardon me love." He began to speak in that Sirius charming way. "I didn't see you, must have been your glow, that obstucted my view." Now his grin growing even wider, it was concealed however by his mask and with a kiss to the back of her hand he was off, continuing his way towards the table. Finally reaching his destination he would pour himself a glass of pumpkin juice and lean a shoulder against the wall taking in the scene around him. Grey eyes scanning every inch of the Great Hall as he looked around seeing if Dory had arrived yet, but how would he know who she was? A shrug of his shoulders would follow as he shoved his hand inside his pocket and drained the rest of his drink.

Halloween Masquerade Ball BellatrixxxxHalloween Masquerade Ball Bellatrixxxxx

Bellatrix forcefully pushed open the doors to the great hall and stepped inside. Once a few steps in, she stopped in her tracks and with a hand on her hip looked around the room. She had a habit of doing this, scanning a room before fully entering. In her mind, she needed too. She couldn't go waltzing into any room where anyone from anywhere, child of anyone, could be. Normally she wouldn't bother showing up to events like this, but for a masquerade... she can make an exception. She thought it would be interesting to see who would recognize who, who would mistake who for who, and who would dare approach her without knowing her identity. She actually found it quite funny how people wouldn't recognize each other when most masks only cover a small portion of their face...

She hadn't bothered much make-up wise, except dark red lipstick, a dap of blush on each of her cheeks, and some eyeliner around her eyes. Not recognizing anyone from her inner-circle right away, she decided to linger a few feet away from the giant double doors, that way she could see everyone who enters. She leaned up against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest, silently watching all the students and professors here in what was the great hall.

Suddenly growing bored with simply standing there, she removed her mask from across her stone grey eyes to take a better look at it. She had chosen a very luxurious mask with many small details. It was mainly black with twistings of dark red (very much matching her lipstick) and many small stones lining the sides. Another feature that attracted her to this mask was how it had 3 gems; two rubies and a diamond, that hung lightly down the tip of her nose. No doubt about it, her mask was very extravagant., and she hoped it would draw some attention to her...

She placed the mask back in its rightful place on her face, and returned to her position with her arms crossed waiting for someone to enter worthy of speaking to her.

Augutus hurried down the stairs as he stifled a loud yawn behind his hand. As he grew closer to the Great Hall’s double doors, he slowed his steps for a moment as he glanced around him. Seeing couples flirting with each others as they also entered the Great Hall caused Augustus to momentarily grimace. He was quite thankful for the black felt mask that covered part of his face, enabling him to let his guard down a bit for the moment. Straightening his shoulder, Augustus pasted a slight smile on his face and entered the ball. His blue eyes swept the room as he walked toward the refreshment tables. Noting several of his, for lack of a better word, Slytherin friends on the left side of the room. Although everyone were wearing masks for the evening as instructed, it wasn’t very hard to figure out who the dark crowd sneering at the rest of the party were.

Although his identity was hidden by his mask, Augustus decided not to approach them as it was too easy to get caught. After all, all his work of creating the perfect image would be wasted if someone saw him associating with a Slytherin. No, the safest bet was to steer clear of them. Perhaps he would be able to find someone more naïve to spend his evening with. Automatically Augustus glanced around the room and searched for Molly’s flaming orange red hair. Now if he were able to get close to her, nobody would ever accuse him of working with Death Eaters. Unable to spot her red hair in the mist of blonds and brunettes, he picked up a bottle of butterbeer and took a sip. Just then he noticed a brunette by the door unfastening her golden mask to sweep her brown curls behind her face. A vision in white and gold, he supposed she was quite lovely, a bit too innocent and pure for his tastes, but perfect for his reputation. At this moment, there was no one that looked less like a Death Eater then her, which made her perfect for his plan. Clutching the bottle in his hand, Augustus watched as she spoke to Professor McGonagall with what he detected as sass and a detection of defiance. His interest peaked a bit as she turned around toward the refreshment table.

Leaning back on the table, Augustus’s lips formed a slight smile as he handed her a butterbeer and silently raised his bottle for a toast. He waited until she took a sip of his offer before commenting. “Congratulations on being the first girl McGonagall didn’t sweep outside because of your costume. Thank goodness she didn’t. This room would look less lovely and not nearly as interesting if you had to leave.” He said with a slight wink beneath his black mask.

Dorcas Meadowes walked into the Great Hall and she smiled instantly at the site before her. The room looked nothing like it ususally did. It was perfect for Halloween. With the smile still on her face she made her way further into the room, her blue eyes looking in all directions to see if she could recognize anyone. Her taffetta dress hovered only inches above the floor as she walked and she had to take smaller steps than she usually did to avoid tripping.

She brought her hand up to check her updo, feel it gently and make sure every hair was still in it's proper place, then checked her tiara. She wanted to look perfect for Sirius, even though he may never recognize her with this bloody mask on. She was still a bit surprised that he asked her here. She had never seen him bring a date to any of these occasions before, was it possible that he may be developing feelings for her? Only time would tell she figured, but still, it was definitely a step in the right direction.

As she made her way further into the room she spotted Marlene in her costume and immediately went over to her. "You are the only one that I recognize." She giggled. "I know that I said this when we were getting ready, but you look great, you really do." She smiled at her best friend and gently brought her hands up to Marley's hair and brushed a strand of hair away that had fallen into her face. "Have you seen Remus yet? Sirius?" She asked. "I hope that we can recognize them when they get here. I should have asked Sirius what he was wearing. What if we spend the entire time searching for each other?"

Narcissa Black walked to the enterance of the Great Hall but did not enter yet. She was still holding Lucius's hand. She looked up at him, her crystal blue eyes staring deeply into his gray. He looked so handsome in his costume and even with the mask on, you could still see his chizzled features. "I have learned a new spell. Don't worry, it's one of Severus's creations and we both know he is brilliant with his spellwork." She told him, a bit of humor to her tone. She pointed her wand at her mouth and whispered, "caninus elongate.'" She could feel her canine teeth now longer and pointed as she ran her tongue along them.

"Your turn." She told Lucius and then used the same spell on him. She stood there looking at him. He looked so much like a real vampire it was truly remarkable. It didn't take long for Narcissa's lust for Lucius to kick in, seeing him looking like this and she walked up very close to him. She removed the mask from her face and then wrapped her arms around his neck. "You know, I bet kissing like this would be quite an expereince." She whispered, and then leaned her face close to his, pressing her lips against him. She kissed him for a few moments and then pulled away again, a satisfied smirk on her lips. "We will have to remember this spell." She gave him a mischievious smirk and then put her mask back on.

She walked into the Great Hall, her eyes focusing on how it looked. It wasn't bad, she thought it could use for frightening things but decorations were the least of her cares right now. She saw many people but didn't know who too many of them were. The only ones she spotted right off were Bella and Mel, but that was only because they had gotten ready together. She walked over to where the two girls were and smirked at them, making sure her new teeth were showing. "Ladies." She said to them licking her fangs with her tongue. "I must say, the three of us, especially standing together, are the hottest bitches in the place." She let out a low laugh and waited for their reaction.

...and if I do look completely foolish, well, I have a mask, Molly thought as she stood hesitantly outside of the Great Hall. She reached behind her head to tighten the ties of her mask, and decided that tonight, for once, she should let herself believe that she looked okay. It was a lovely costume, and, like she had decided, there was no need for anyone to know it was her. Satisfied that the mask would not come off anytime soon, Molly walked into the Hall, taken aback for a moment by the decour. The professors put too much effort into these things, she thought with a small smile. She adjusted the straps of the delicate fairy wings so that they were longer (they had begun to rub uncomfortably on her shoulders, not a good way start to the evening) and saw standing right inside of the Hall Professor McGonagall, who had not bothered with dressing up for the ball. She raised her eyebrows at Molly's choice of costume, and set her mouth in a tight line. Molly merely smoothed down the front of the dress and patted her hair, making sure that the curls and flowers were staying in place as she met McGonagall's gaze.

"Honestly Professor, do I really deserve that look?" asked Molly innocently. From behind the pink and gold mask her bright brown eyes glittered in the candlelight, and her smile grew as her head of house waved her on. She gave a McGonagall a slight nod and made her way further into the Hall, trying to recognize someone. I should be able to spot Karen, she thought, eyes scanning the crowded Hall for her good friend. What was her costume again?...aha! There she is! At the refreshment table stood her friend, butterbeer in hand, and appeared to be talking to a student in a black mask. Deciding that for the time being she would let them be, Molly began to wander, though warily kept her eyes on the refreshment table.

Halloween Masquerade Ball 1928211

Andromeda you can do this. There is no need to fret, she kept repeating to herself in her head. She was walking to the Great Hall from the Slytherin Common Room. Her sisters had left for the ball before her and she was half tempted not to go and just say she fell asleep. But Meda knew the excuse wouldn’t work. She just didn’t want to be seen in this costume. It was a nice costume and all, but too…much for her taste. She wanted something plain and ordinary that didn’t catch people’s attention. This wasn’t as eye popping as some costumes, like one that Bella or Cissy would have picked for her, but it was still more so than what she would normally pick for her shy and insecure self.

She was wearing a pirate costume like she wanted, but this one was more to Cissy and Bella’s liking. They hadn’t seen her costume yet, but she knew they would be pleased. This outfit would surely catch someone’s attention, though Meda didn’t really want that to happen, but that was exactly what Cissy and Bella wanted. They said she needed to catch the eyes of some purebloods. She was sixteen now and needed to look for someone. She was expected to marry a wealthy and well respected pure-blood that of course shared similar interests and morals as her family. Though Meda wasn’t sure if that was the man she wanted.

She caught glimpse of the Great Hall entrance and let out a sigh. Hopefully her sisters would not recognize her, which was a possibility given the fact she never showed them her costume and was smart to change by herself in her dorm room bathroom, and thus she would not have that irritating feeling of being watched like a hawk. She wasn’t sure what she would do once she got in. She had no actual friends really. The only one she could really talk to was her cousin Sirius, but given the off chance that her sisters would recognize her she decided talking to him, if he was even there or able to recognize him, would be risky.

She opened the doors and lingered in. Almost at once she felt a bit at ease about her costume. There were a lot more questionable costumes than hers. She recognized Melanie, Bella, and Cissy as she looked around. She had seen their costumes when they were showing theirs off to each other. Meda used the excuse of her still waiting for her costume to arrive, which was true.

Meda didn’t recognize anyone else and was hopeful no one would recognize her. Her right hand moved up to her mask to make sure it was there. It was. She could feel the golden material made of string that overlapped the red base of the mask. Knowing it was there made her feel more reassured her identity was hidden like it was meant to be at such a ball.

She then walked over buy the little buffet table where she passed a girl wearing a jester costume enjoying a piece of cherry cheesecake. The sight made her chuckle a bit. She grabbed a butterbeer of the table and made her way to an empty round table. She sat and set her drink down. She stared at her cup and then took a sip. She decided she would just sit there until someone approached her. She wasn’t the kind of person to go up to a stranger herself after all. She was just a bit too shy for that.

Halloween Masquerade Ball Empty
PostSubject: Re: Halloween Masquerade Ball   Halloween Masquerade Ball Icon_minitimeSat Jun 30, 2007 11:05 pm

Ted sat still as he looked around the Great Hall, lifting his chin lightly and tilting his head every time someone would enter the room. He was looking for her - somehow he just knew he'd recognize her even though she'd be wearing a mask. He could almost feel her presence whenever she was close, he didn't even need to see her. Sighing lightly, he got back to his feet and headed over to the refreshment table, grabbing himself a butterbeer with a small nod at Professor McGonagall, who curtly returned the nod, before making his way back to the table he was sitting at, leaning back on the chair and taking a sip of his butterbeer, watching as more people made their appearance - a bohemian looking girl, a goddess, a cowgirl - or at least he thought that's what she was - a punk goth fairy, a jester girl, the phantom of the opera... as the next girl entered the room, he felt a shiver run down his spine. This girl too he could recognize, though in her case it was definitely not a good feeling. Bellatrix Black... he shook his head slightly, drinking some more of his butterbeer as he kept watching people entering the room. A masked man, - he couldn't quite make out the costume itself - a princess, - once again, only guessing. Once again, a shudder ran through his body as the other Black sister entered the room, along with Lucius Malfoy. Matching costumes, how charming. Vampires. He let out a snort, unable to restrain himself. At least he was sure they wouldn't drink his blood - they'd most likely throw it up anyway.

The next girl entering the room was a fairy, followed by a little more people. Then he saw her entering the room. His breath got caught in his throat for a few second as his eyes widened slightly. She looked gorgeous. Of course, she always did, but the costume she was wearing was definitely flattering her body. He figured it wasn't really the kind of clothes she'd usually wear. He knew she was a rather shy girl, not one to wear costumes that were too revealing. However, it definitely fitted her as she looked simply amazing. He just couldn't tear his eyes away from her... not that he ever could anyway. He was one year older than her, and so he had been in his second year when she had joined Hogwarts. At the Sorting Ceremony, the name Black had caught his attention and he had looked up, expecting to see the same kind of girl he had seen the year before - beautiful, yes, each it their own way, but conceited and pretty much evil looking, which he now knew they were. Their attraction to the evil side was rather appearant. However, when he had caught sight of the young, sweet, dark haired girl shyly making her way to the front stool, he had been surprised. Actually, he had been shocked. He knew better than to judge people according to their looks. But in her case, he just knew she was what she looked like - smart, kind, and especially different from her sisters. As the years had passed her had just felt his attraction to her grow even more, though never daring to approach her.

He finally got his senses back and noticed her costume as what it was - she was dressed as a pirate, just like him. He couldn't help but smile at the fact that they were, without even knowing each other - at least on her side - matching. He watched her as she walked through the hall and sat at a table nearby, taking a deep breath and getting back to his feet. It was now or never. Slowly, he made his way to her and stood beside her, bowing lightly as he smiled lightly.

"I believe we must have a similar way of thinking as we both chose the same kind of costume," he said with a light grin. "I must say though, you look much more beautiful in it," he said, taking her hand in his and kissing it.

Andromeda was broke from aimless thought when she noticed someone approached her. She looked up to see a young man bowing and smiling lightly. She returned a polite, but sheepish, smile. He was wearing a pirate costume like herself, but he looked more like a pirate than she did in more revealing-than-she would-like costume. She couldn’t make out who he was even though he only wore an eye patch instead a mask.

"I believe we must have a similar way of thinking as we both chose the same kind of costume. I must say though, you look much more beautiful in it." she heard him say. His voice not one she could recognize. As she tried to place the voice he took her hand without her notice and kissed it. When he did her mind snapped away from thought and a shiver ran through her. She felt heat rise in her cheeks and she knew she must be blushing feverishly.

She tried to hide her flushed state by replying. “It is said great minds think alike,” she responded with a smile. The lad was quite charming indeed; she just wished she could figure out who he was.

“If you don’t mind me asking,” she began, “What is your name?” She prayed that he was not someone she shouldn’t be someone her sisters would disapprove of. She did not need an embarrassing quarrel in front of the whole school. It was thoughts like these that made Meda wish more than ever that she was born into some other family.

“Actually never mind that question,” she spoke. Maybe it is best not to know who you are, she thought to herself. It surely would be best. Why not enjoy herself? If he turned out to be one that Cissy and Bella would disapprove of then it would just make her hate her life more and make her miserable the rest of the evening.

PostSubject: Re: Halloween Masquerade Ball   Halloween Masquerade Ball Icon_minitimeSun Jul 01, 2007 4:16 am

Whistling under her breath, Karen edged away from Prof. McGonagall and hurried over to the refreshment table. Thank Merlin she was about to fast talk her way out of trouble that time. Her brown curls swung over her shoulder as she dodged a particularly large werewolf creature dancing with a house elf. Arriving at the refreshment table safely without getting run over, Karen cleared her dry throat. She could really use a butterbeer right at the moment. Yet, before she could reach out her hand to grab one, an icy bottle appeared right in front of her face. She grasped the bottle and peered upward at the person holding it. Surprisingly enough, it seemed to be a student, perhaps the same age or a bit older then her. With a black felt mask covering the upper portion of his face, Karen couldn’t put her finger on his identity. Although his bright blue eyes certainly was startling. Especially looking so intently down at her.

“Congratulations on being the first girl McGonagall didn’t sweep outside because of your costume. Thank goodness she didn’t. This room would look less lovely and not nearly as interesting if you had to leave.” He said with a slight wink beneath his black mask.

At the wink, Karen couldn’t help but feel a slight flush rushing to her cheeks. Hoping the Great Hall was dark enough to conceal her blush, she took a sip of butterbeer. Lightly biting her lower lip, she glanced upwards at him once again. “Then I suppose for your sake, it’s a good thing she didn’t.” She quipped with a slight smile. Her brown eyes drifted downwards and she took in his unusual outfit. Since it was Halloween, costumes were expected, even the strangest ones. However, this person wasn’t in costume attire but rather in a regular Muggle suit and a black mask.

Cocking her head curiously to the side, Karen asked, “So what exactly are you dressed as? Because I’m racking my brain but I just can’t quite figure it out.” Just then she noticed Molly arrive to the ball. She waved her friend over as she continued smiling. “You know I’m waiting breathlessly for your answer.” Karen teased with a wink.

Noting the flush that crept up her face, Rookwood could help but smirk at the young girl’s innocence. ‘It’s almost too easy.’ He thought to himself with a sigh. Luckily she didn’t seem to notice his smirk as she glanced down at the butterbeer in her hands. ‘I almost feel bad for using her this way,’ Rookwood mused as his blue eyes traveled down her figure. ‘Only almost though…’

Karen asked, “So what exactly are you dressed as? Because I’m racking my brain but I just can’t quite figure it out. You know I’m waiting breathlessly for your answer.”

“Well, we can’t have that now can we?” He replied as he bowed to her slightly. He raised his hand and tugged at his necktie to loosen it a bit. “After much deliberation and planning, I’ve decided to be original and out of the box. Therefore…” Rookwood paused and slowly turned around. “I’ve decided to be a rich muggle at a party.” Raising his eyebrow at her surprise, he grinned. “Actually I didn’t really have anything planned and rather just threw these clothes on. But that’s my costume if anyone asks.”

He’d actually did plan out his costume ahead of time as he thought it would be another brilliant way to distance himself away from the known Death Eaters. After all, no self respecting wizard would ever voluntarily wear these filthy rags by choice. His skin crawled just thinking about the pathetic muggles that produced and touched these clothes. But it was the Dark Lord’s wish for him to create an impeccable reputation and he’d heed to his wishes.

Noticing her wave to someone by the door, he raised his bottle of butterbeer and took a large gulp. “Yet my costume’s still missing something.” Rookwood said out loud as though lost in thought. “I certainly would have added a rose to this costume if I knew you were here. But alas, I didn’t think ahead. Could I perhaps invite you to dance with me instead?” He smiled down at her and motioned toward the dance floor. “I promise I won’t cripple you with my dancing.”

PostSubject: Re: Halloween Masquerade Ball   Halloween Masquerade Ball Icon_minitimeSun Jul 01, 2007 5:47 pm

Sirius stood there, leaning against the wall, it was beginning to get more crowded as more and more of the students had arrived. Each in their own mask and costume, mingling and talking to one another not knowing who it was they were speaking with. It occured to him that he should have told Dory which costume he was going to be wearing but never really thought of it, it was Halloween and he had been planning another prank on his best friend Prongs. He knew Dory was going to be wearing a tiara, but that was half of the girls in the place, and with the masks it was difficult for him to tell. Though if one were observant enough they could tell who was who, the color of the others hair the voice, but Sirius had been with so many different girls he never took the time to pay much attention to little details such as that. Hell, he couldn't remember their names half of the time. A few slaps have been given to him because of that little mistake he's made, and with that thought he would place a hand on his cheek and grin as he shook his head in amusement. Deciding it was time to liven up the place a bit Sirius finished off the final swig of his drink and pushed himself from the wall. Prongs was gonna kill him but he could no longer resist the temptation. Sitting his glass down he began to nonchalantly stroll through the crowded room, making sure to keep a keen eye out for any nosy bystanders and proffesors.

He would be making his way to a decoration, a statue of some kind of ancient warrior holding a spear high above the Great Hall, loin cloth and all. It was an absurd looking thing to say the least, and to Sirius, it had nothing to do with Halloween whatsoever. But it was the perfect place and object to use for what he had in mind. Once he had got close enough to the statue Sirius gave a quick glance around room one last time to make sure he wasn't being watched, and to his suprise no one was paying the slightest bit of attention to him. Retrieving his wand Sirius pulled out a pair of James' underwear that he stole before coming down to the Ball. Not just any pair either, but his Merlin the action figure ones, it was beautiful, the knickers had a animated Merlin with full on army fatigues and a wand that looked like it was made of a tree stump. Sirius had to stifle a laugh at the sight of them. Pointing his wand at the garment Sirius muttered a spell and guided the underwear up until they had been hanging nicely on the tip of the statue's spear, once that was taken care of Sirius put the tip of his wand to his neck and amplified his voice, "James Potter, please remove your under garments from everyone's view, that is absolutely unnecessary sir!" His voice would boom through the crowded room as Sirius hurriedly moved from the statue holding back his laughter, Prongs was going to kill him.

Marlene kept on looking around for a while, biting her bottom lip nervously. Where was Dora? She didn't want to spend the evening alone, and she couldn't recognize Remus anywhere. Maybe he wasn't feeling well enough to come? She sighed lighty and readjusted her mask - it was feeling really itchy and she had the feeling her skin would be red before the end of the evening. She had a very sensitive skin and sometimes it was nothing to help. She folded her arms across her stomach and sighed once more, looking down slightly and causing a strand of hair to fall over her face as she tugged at the bottom of her shirt lightly and ran her hands over her skirt. She really did wish sometimes she wasn't as shy as she was, that she could borrow a bit of her friend's personality. She didn't see to have any problem at all with her looks or the way she dressed - she was carefree and happy, and Marlene wished she could be just like her. Of course, the last few days had helped on the matter of happiness, though she couldn't help but worry about Remus most of the time - he did look tired often, and she had started to notice the small scars that covered his skin though they were barely noticeable. She had figured he probably had some kind of secret he wasn't ready to share with her and she was fine with it - after all, was she not keeping something from him, and everybody else, as well? But it still was nothing to help her worry.

She shook her head lightly and looked up again just in time to see Dora entering the room and a smile of relief spread on her lips as her friend made her way to her, looking beautiful in her costume, the dress fitting her perfectly and the hair... well, Marlene was surprised she had managed to keep her friend sitting still long enough to get such a good result. She smiled at her friend as she pushed away the strand of hair that had fallen over her face. "Finally you are here, I was starting to think I would spend the evening all by myself," she said. "You look great too Dora, that dress looks at though it was made for you," she added, smiling softly. "And I haven't seen either Remus or Sirius yet," she sighed. "But I'm sure we'll recognize them, or they'll recognize us, hopefully anyway. I'm starting to think this mask idea wasn't all that good - it's silly to have us standing alone in our corners because we can't figure out who is who," she said with a light frown.

She was about to say something else when a male voice resoned in the Great Hall, something about James Potter's under garments... and the voice was rather easy to recognize as well. She couldn't help but giggle lightly and she looked at Dora, raising an eyebrow lightly and tilting her head. "Well I guess you have found your date for the night," she said in a teasing manner. "Though I'd tell you to hurry and spend a bit of time with him before the victim of his prank sends him in the Hospital Wing," she said, laughing a little. Then she smiled at her friend. "And don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Remus should be here soon anyway," she said, only adding 'hopefully' in her thoughts.

Dora continued to stand next to Marley, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of Sirius. "The dress may look alright on me but let me tell you, it's so itchy. It's all I can do to keep myself from scratching." She giggled a bit and once again brought her hands up to check her hair. A habit she was sure she was going to continue all night, or at least until she saw Sirius.

"I know, you did such a perfect job on my hair. Sitting still for that long was murder but I did it anyway." She turned to face Marlene completely. "Thanks so much, I couldn't have done it without you." She smiled warmly and then once again looked around the room for Sirius. It was so hard to tell who anyone was. "I think they had this idea so we would mingle a bit better. Not be so segregated because of what house we are in or our blood status. Still, how in Merlin do we know who anyone is, I mean, what if I asked Lucius to dance thinking it was Sirius?" She then giggled a bit loudly. That would be quite the site, especially after Narcissa Black killed her for touching her precious arrogant Lucius.

She was about to say something to Marley about her mask also being uncomfortable when she head a very loud voice being amplified into the room. Her eyes quickly found where it was coming from and a huge smile spread across her lips. It was Sirius being, well, Sirius at his best. She couldn't help laugh at the prank he had just done. It was quite original she had to admit.

"I do believe you are right Marley. If that's not Sirius, then I don't know who it is." She stood there watching him for a few more moments and nodded to Marley when she told her to go off and see him and that she would be fine. "OK, I just hope Remus hurries up and gets here." She told her. She then gave her best friend a hug and walked across the room to where Sirius was standing.

"I dare say Black, I think this is one of the most brilliant pranks you have ever come up with." She smiled at him but she wasn't sure whether or not he would know it was her. She figured she better say or do something so he would know. "So Mr. Phantom of the Opera, does this costume qualify me under the show them what real sexiness looks like category?"

Melanie looked around the room boredly as she grabbed a butterbeer from the refreshment table, wondering what kind of refreshment these were as well. She'd been to kids party that had had better food and drinks than this one. Shaking her head, she took a sip of her drink and leaned back on the table, not caring if she was in the way of some people. Nobody dared tell her to move anyway, which she noticed with a light smirk. She kept on drinking slowly, sighing of frustration as the time passed oh so slowly. She knew this had been a bad idea. She should have stayed in the Slytherin Common Room, knowing she'd have had it for herself. But Narcissa had bugged her til no end and she had finally given in and hurriedly found a costume that would at least be worthy of her. As she looked at the entrance of the room, she noticed Bellatrix making her way inside the Great Hall, recognizing her since she had tried on her costume with her and Narcissa before the masquerade. She slowly made her way to the girl, not really wanting to talk to her, but at least she knew who she was, and that she was not someone who was unworthy of being in this school. The fact that there were so many mudbloods crawling around the place without her even knowing who they were made her blood boil in her veins. It was utterly absurd, and so frustrating.

Just as she joined Bella, she noticed Cissy entering the room with Lucius. She smirked lightly as the blonde haired girl made her way toward them and raised an eyebrow at the fangs in her mouth. Her smirk widened as her friend spoke up and she nodded in agreement. "You are quite right Cissy, though I must say those teeth would be a turn off for any boy but your knight in shining armor," she said in a slightly teasing manner, running a hand through her hair and tossing her brown curls behind her shoulder. "As for myself, I am quite pleased that the old McGonagall has stayed away from me tonight. If she hasn't tried to kick me out, then I dare say nobody will, don't you think?" she said, sending a look to the said lady who was still looking around the room sternly.

PostSubject: Re: Halloween Masquerade Ball   Halloween Masquerade Ball Icon_minitimeSun Jul 01, 2007 10:16 pm

Ted couldn't help but look at Andromeda admiringly as blood rushed to her cheeks, coloring them with a light red color which made her look adorable. He listened to her with a smile as she spoke up, her voice like music to his ears. "It is true that most people say that," he agreed. "Or maybe it's simply fate," he added with a light grin, his eye looking into hers. He wished he had put on a real mask instead of this stupid eye patch which kept him from seeing her well. However, he did not need to see her to know how beautiful she was. The simple fact that he was talking to her for the first time in six long years was making him feel as though he was living a dream. How many times had he wanted to go near her, just like he was now, and be able to hear her voice? All those times had been impossible however, knowing that his identity was known of her sisters, as was his blood line. Ted had never felt ashamed of his family heirdom. His parents were good people, his mother as sweet as a mother could be and his father smart and protective, a man who'd do anything for his family. So what if they were muggles? They were still as good and worthy as any pureblood wizard he knew, and having muggles for parent didn't make him any worse than those who judged other people according to their blood status. Lily Evans was the best example that could ever be used in the school - Head Girl, one of the smartest girl of her year, her parents were both muggles as well and yet he knew she'd go far in her life. As for him, his only true ambition now sat before his very eyes - or eye, at the moment. And he was able to talk to her without her sisters coming to him and hexing him.

When she asked his name, the happiness he had been feeling left him to be replaced by one of worry. What should he say now? He knew she probably wouldn't recognize her even if he told her his name, but if her sisters came and asked to know his identity, it would be another story. As she spoke up again, relief flooded through him and a charming grin appeared on his face as he looked down at her. "Well, after all, the point of these masks is so that our identities remain unknown, isn't it?" he said with a smile. He knew he was being an hypocrit in some way, considering the fact that he very well knew who she was, but it wasn't exactly the same thing... so he convinced himself anyway. "Would you care for something to eat?" he asked, noticing there already was a bottle of butterbeer set on the table in front of her.

Halloween Masquerade Ball 17761Halloween Masquerade Ball 17001_b

Severus stood outside of the door to the Great Hall feeling nothing short of ridiculous in his medieval vampire get up. The mask on his face was quite uncomfortable and he really didn't want to be here. True, Lucius had done his best to talk him into coming and he reluctantly agreed. He had thought that he might play he was ill, not come after all, that was until he ran into one, very beautiful Dorcas Meadowes in the Prefects bathroom. She was not supposed to be in there, Marlene had snuck her in and under normal circumstances he would have thrown out the infiltrator and turned both of them in. However, seeing Dorcas in her dress, that very figure flattering dress, he went a bit soft. Very uncharacteristic of him, but it happened. After seeing her in that dress he was convinced that he was going to come to this crazy dance. Not that she would ever give him the time of day. Just the thoughts she gave him were really starting to make him question certain things about himself. Maybe he had inhaled too many potions fumes lately, that would explain his odd thinking.

He pointed his wand at his mouth, reciting the spell that he had taught Narcissa a few days earlier. The spell would make the canine teeth grow a bit, giving them a slight point, making their vampire costumes a bit more realistic. Severus was always coming up with new spells. He was talented with his potions and spellwork, but he also had plenty of time on his hands to create things, something that was good in one way, not so good in another.

He finally walked into the room, rolling his eyes a bit at the way it was decorated. He saw that there were quite a few people there already and he didn't recognize anyone right off. He was looking for Lucius and Narcissa. Besides Dorcas, they were the only ones who's costumes he was aware of. He spotted Narcissa standing near a corner with a couple of other girls, though wearing masks he had no clue who they were. He then saw a table set up with goblets lined up on it. He decided to grab a cup of whatever was over there and then he would make his way back over to where Narcissa was.

As he made his way over to the table, he saw, out of the corner of his eye, the color of very pale green. The color of Dorcas' dress. He turned himself so that he was looking at her and just stood there for a moment. She looked even more beautiful than she had the other night. Her hair was set in some fancy kind of twist and she wore a tiara on her head. Even the mask on her face was pretty. He saw her talking to someone wearing a costume that he had no clue what it was. "She would never talk to me." He thought to himself. "Then again, no one knows who anyone else is." A sly smirk spread on his pale face and he decided to make his way over close to her. He wouldn't say anything just yet, he would observe for now and think of the best way to approach her.

Once he thought he was at a safe enough distance from the statue Sirius turned to gaze upon his glory. It was a masterpiece, and one that he would be sure to throw back at James every chance he got. The evening was beginning to look up, there was butterbeer, a plethora of girls to flirt with, of course Dory had to be around somewhere, and the crowning achievement of the evening, Prongs' Action Hero Merlin undergarments hanging above for all to see. Yes it was a splendid night indeed. The costume he had chosen to wear started to chafe him a bit, it was hot and itchy and the crowded room didn't help matters much, he would tug and pull at a few pieces of his clothing trying to loosen them up. His hand moved up and unbuttoned a few buttons of his shirt and he loosened his tie, and an immediate relief rushed over him. He wasn't about to let his fun be stopped by some nagging piece of material nor was he planning on stopping with just the underwear thing. His mischievious mind was running rampant full of ideas.

Just as he was scanning around, looking for his next endeavor a familiar voice rang out, and it was none other than Dorcas Meadowes. Turning around the grin slapped on his lips was evident and his stone grey gaze took in the lovely figured woman standing before him. He would reach out and take her hand, bringing the back of it to his lips where he would place a gentle kiss to it before speaking, "Why thank you my little tart, and I dare say, you are the lovliest girl I have seen here." His grin now turned to a smile as he looked in her eyes through her mask. He would flash a quick wink at her just before he noticed a lingering form standing just a few feet away, the student appeared to be a vampire but to Sirius it looked more like a mangy Hogs Head patron.
